LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the 500th goal of his career for club and country on Saturday night in fittingly outlandish fashion.
The outspoken Swedish striker whipped in the goal with a roundhouse kick on the volley from Jonathan dos Santos’ pass in the 43rd minute to reach the milestone.
Toronto had jumped out to a 3-0 first-half lead at BMO Field before Ibrahimovic’s goal fueled a furious Galaxy rally that saw a tie game by the 58th minute. Toronto answered with two more goals to win 5-3.
“Obviously it’s not good to lose … but I’m happy for Toronto because they’ll be remembered as my 500th victim,” Ibrahimovic told TSN after the game.
Despite the loss, Ibrahimovic acknowledged the accomplishment on Twitter with his trademark bombast.
