Colombia scored two stunning second-half goals for a 2-0 win over Argentina in Group B action on Saturday at the Copa America.
In a match that feature a plethora of stars such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Radamel Falcao, and James Rodriguez, it was Roger Martinez who put Colombia up with a booming strike in the 71st minute.
Chances were scarce for both sides in tight first half, although Colombia were the brighter of the two. Both teams entered halftime at Salvador’s Fonte Nova stadium without a shot on target.
The deadlock continued well after halftime with tempers beginning to flare after a hard foul on Messi in the 60th minute.
Messi nearly put Argentina on top in the 66th minute, sending a header just wide of David Ospina‘s net following an initial knockdown of Aguero’s close range attempt.
Five minutes later, Martinez scored for the Colombians when streaked down the left flank and cut back in for a booming far-post shot past Argentina goalkeeper Franco Armani.
