Last night, new writer Eric Crews asked me how many hits we got for our articles. Considering I have a personal blog and a music podcast that both get more traffic, despite not having daily posts, I was initially quite shocked with the results.
However, the thought occurred to me that unlike technology fixes (some of the highest hit counts on my personal blog) and music, sports news gets old pretty quickly. Actually, the accuracy of technology fixes has a 6-month life-span when it comes to many Linux distributions, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t searching for potential answers. People generally aren’t looking for news on a game much after a game.
We haven’t really gotten the other writers writing much yet, so it seems somewhat silly to abandon ship or change course to much, but the lack of hits is also very stark and I can’t ignore it. What do you want to see? Are we covering the wrong sports? Are the articles too short? Are they too long? Do we need to do more promotion? Do I not get them out soon enough after games? Are the articles too partial? Not enough pictures? Please let me know your thoughts!
