The Rest of this Semester, Next Semester, and Beyond
The Rest of this Semester
We (mostly I) have decided that TINT the rest of the semester will be bi-weekly. The next show will be October 28th. We’ll also be taking off December (though there’s a possibility Evan and I will record something while we are both in Kentucky). Also, Kevie may throw in NFL shows on my off weeks.
Aside from TINT, I’ll still plan to bring some sports law articles. Unfortunately, I do not know if our NBA writers are still planning on writing this year. I certainly hope so.
This is the main reason for me writing. I could have announced the bi-weekly schedule on the next TINT. However, I will need to write something about next semester on all four of the sites on which I write (the other three being OSP, MML and NEF). I just decided to write here first, since this is where I’ve been most active this semester.
The announcement is that I’ll be living in Baltimore and externing at Johns Hopkins University next semester in their Tech Transfer department. This means I’ll have a more regular schedule. Aside from that, I don’t know what it means. I’ll be better positioned to bring you DC United news and less Revolution news. I was already covering DCU more than local during the school year team. I wasn’t really covering the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots or Bruins either, so the site probably doesn’t lose much with the move. I haven’t been covering the O’s, Nationals, Ravens, Redskins, Wizards or Capitals either, but maybe there will be more of that in the future. At this point it is hard to say.
What I can say is that I won’t be taking sports law or probably doing anything sports law related. There may be some sports medicine stuff or maybe even some sports science stuff. I don’t know what I’ll be at liberty to say, but I’ll bring as much to you as I can.
Recently Stephen and I sat down and discussed the future of the Netizen Empowerment Federation (NEF). Sportazine has long been a collaboration of JMP Enterprises and what has become NEF. For a long time, we struggle to figure out where Sportazine fit into the NEF puzzle. However, recently, with the introduction of TINT, the Premier free culture podcast, and a change in NEF to focus on free culture rather than journalism and education, everything is falling into place. Considering Jeff, Stephen, Kevie, Evan and my other commitments, it is still very uncertain what the future brings for Sportazine. Once I have full time employment after graduation, I’ll be sure to post here and let you know if there are any implications for the site.
There’s no indication that we’re going anywhere, so hold on for the ride!
