I don’t know that I’m going to continue to separate the Euro coverage from my other coverage, but I felt like I had enough today.
NBA
Eric might be writing an article on the NBA Finals. Apparently, people want that, although so far no one has responded to my inquiry . And because ratings are so good, I can’t agree that Stern’s ignorance overshadows the actual game.
This is an interesting piece on why Karl Malone would take Scottie of MJ. I’ve got to say, if there’s a salary cap involved, I might do the same. Speaking of drafts, I’m excited to see where the Kentucky boys might go. I love Terrence Jones, but 7th seems a little high. I haven’t personally done any research on the depth of the talent pool in this draft, but I follow UK basketball, and it seems high to me. TJ is unstoppable when he wants to be, but he seems to drift in and out of games. For me, I’d take Zeller or Sullinger over TJ. Seeing as how one of our writers is a 76ers fan, here’s a public call for him to share his views on the proposed Austin Rivers pick. My feeling about picking Freshman is that you’ve really got to know what you are getting your hands on with them. His dook team lost in the first round. How’s that for leadership? I realize he’s a SG and not a point guard, but still. There’s only 5 guys on the court, not 11. Anybody can be a leader.
MLB
There was a perfect game out in San Fran. I don’t follow MLB that closely as long-time readers will know, but I tool the time to check in on the Orioles (3rd in AL East) and the Reds (tied with the Pirates for 1st in the NL Central). Depending on how you feel about baseball, this aquatic jetpack that Comcast caught while filming the game might be more interesting. The 2-minute clip is really worth watching.
Archery
Well, it’s clear SportAZine needs to be doing something differently. Maybe archery coverage? Certainly any time a 10-year-old wins a major tournament against 17-year-olds, it’s big news. It looks like though this is not the Pan Am Games with which many readers are likely familiar. Rather, this is an archery-specific tournament. I don’t mean for that to diminish his talent or achievement. I just don’t want others to be as confused as I was! I have to say that while I do think it’s cool to hear about the next Wayne Rooney or the next Calipari recruit, I find the fact that Yahoo! has a section dedicated to high school athletics a little troubling.
NFL
I actually thought the following article was an MLB article about the St. Louis Cardinals signing Roy Halladay, which I thought was huge news. It isn’t and that didn’t happen. It’s actually talking about the Arizona Cardinals signing their draft picks. Notice the different spelling of the names.
