It’s been a while since I’ve had an “anything goes” post. There’s not one on the front page and I don’t have time to look through the archives. Since at this point I guess most people are coming here for Sportazine FC related info, I’ll start with that. We have entered Division 8. It turns out that most teams stop competing in Division 9 (or aren’t good enough to progress). I think we’ve settled upon a 4-4-2 diamond. Right now Evan is playing up top, and I am playing in my real life position of CDM. I’m an 84 at CAM, and an 82 at CDM, but this seems to give us the most balance.
We could really use someone else up top. We’ve had a few people cycle through, but we’ve had no one post their availability at https://www.reddit.com/r/sportazine. Please do!
I’ve also started a career with Malmö FF. I’m not sure if I am going to do post-season posts every season. I suppose this serves as the post-season 1 post. I picked up John Stones in the January transfer and Rasmus Elm on a free at the end of the season. I was also able to pick up Nikola Đurđić in the first transfer, though given his age and ability, I think I over paid.
Speaking on NASL action, it looks like I’ll be moving to either the Twin Cities or Iowa City. In prep for the move I just finished the complete run of Two United Fans (TUF)
. I wish they focused more on Minnesota United rather than on the complete NASL, but apparently there was a show that focused more on MN United and that’s why Notch and Co. cover NASL. I did listen to the NASLcast for a while, which was an Indy 11 fan and a Carolina Railhawks fan. It’s an interesting comparison. Actually, the shows seem very similar. It looks like NASLcast
is taking the off-season off though.
It’s been hard for me to really feel connected to MN United and the NASL. I’m not sure what it was about DC United that took hold, even after going to some Chicago Fire games. Maybe it’s because of the talk of moving DC United to Baltimore. Maybe it’s because of the academy situation with the Baltimore Bohemians. Maybe it’s because I adopted DC United while in North Carolina (before the Railhawks were around), though I didn’t adopt them very hard. I guess it was some combination of all of the above.
I’m sure I’ll feel more connected once we move either to Iowa City or Minneapolis…or maybe I won’t in Iowa City. I know other Minnesota sports penetrate Iowa, but not sure about the NASL’s pull there. There is a localish MISL (or whatever the league is called these days) team in Cedar Rapids, but I really don’t see myself visiting Cedar Rapids very often. I guess we will see.
Across the pond, Leicester has MCFC (2) and Arsenal (3) coming up. If they win both of those, sure, I’ll believe they can win it. They also still have MUFC (5), West Ham (6), LFC (7), Southampton (8), Watford (10), and Chelsea (who I think are better than their spot in the table) on their schedule. They aren’t winning the league. I guess I’ve come around that they may finish in the top 4, at the expense of either Tottenham or MUFC. I was going to talk about LVG a bit in this article, but I’ve decided to leave that for another day.
