Melo and Durantula for MVP in team USA

With the tournament almost over, Carmelo Anthony shocked the world with his record 3pt streak against Nigeria, ending up with 37 points which was a US tournament high. But Kevin Durant also has been very consistent with his shooting on games versus Argentina, Australia, France and Tunisia. Carmelo’s natural scoring nature was filled with dunks, rebounds and 3 point shots, while Durant more finesse game played outside of the paint although he did some breakaway dunks and even some blocks. Melo has proven to be a force down low sharing the ownership of the boards with Tyson Chandler and Kevin Love. Melo has been the captain coming off the bench even if team US started with Melo on the roster, that quickly changed after the second or third game. At the moment Durant average 18.6 while Anthony follows closely with 17.4 points a game and 4.7 rebounds makes it a more rounded player.

Leading the second team has allowed Melo to shine while Durant despite sharing the spotlight LeBron and Kobe, he was able to become the go to guy as LeBron played more like the distributor which seems more in tune with his plays in Miami. With the Finals aiming tomorrow I expect Durant to be the overall MVP just because of being the starter but I expect a few new yorker to disagree with the decision.
