There has been some big match ups at the Olympics and some key moments where we were able to see teams competing hand in hand and beat the odds. The most surprising match up was the Great Britain against Brazil. Brazil, the team that held one of the closest game against the US during the exhibition match against the US, seemed a bit doubtful and clumsy. Varejao with foul problems and Barbosa not being his usual offensive self, it was Splitter with his 21 points and inside game that was able to pull Brazil from an upset. Lou Deng on the other team, gave a respectful performance scoring 3 pointers late in the game to put the UK on top for a few minutes during the end of the game.

The next surprise big match up was between the San Antonio Spurs stars, Manu Ginobili from Argentina and Tony Parker from France. A close game with a good start from France with 19-12 but Argentina came back on the second quarter scoring 17 points to France 13 points to give a halftime score of 32-29 by the frenchmen. Ginobili score 26 points to Tony’s 17 points during the game, team Argentina fought hard during the whole game, giving the closest game so far during the Olympics.
